County Treasurer, Mindy Kuntz Hagan, announced that mobile home tax bills were mailed Monday, March 1, 2010. The payment due date is May 5, 2010. Any payments that are not received or postmarked by May 5, 2010 will be charged a late fee. As required by the Illinois statutes, a $25.00 per month late fee not to exceed $100.00 will be charged.
The Treasurer’s Office is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Both coupons should be presented when making payments in person or by mail. Unpaid taxes will result in a lien being filed on the mobile home.
There is a drop box at the Administrative Center near the entrance of the 911 Center. Payments can be dropped off during non-office hours.

Hauling will be permitted till Noon March 1st on township and county roads. NO HAULING will be permitted March 2nd thru March 5th.

A program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute released information on February 17, 2010 that ranks counties across the nation within their own State.
The rankings list heath outcomes and health factors in each county that together produce a ranking within the State.
Out of 101 rankings, (1 county did not have enough data to include in the survey), Ford County ranked 20th and Iroquois County ranked 30th.

Sheriff Eldon Sprau announced today that the Iroquois County Sheriff’s Police Department will award a $1,000 scholarship for the 2010-2011 academic year. The goal of this scholarship is to assist a worthy Iroquois County student pursuing a career in Criminal Justice. The applicant must attend a college or university in Illinois, be a permanent resident of Iroquois County, and be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student.
The Sheriff’s Police Department Scholarship is funded by the Annual Iroquois County Sheriff’s Golf Outing, which is sponsored jointly by the Sheriff’s Police and the County Business Community. Sheriff Sprau advises all interested students to secure applications and information from the Sheriff’s Office or on the following link: Scholarship Application. Applicants should submit their completed application forms to Sheriff Eldon Sprau, 550 S. Tenth Street P.O. Box 67 Watseka, Illinois 60970 before the deadline of April 1, 2009. The award recipient will be announced by May 1, 2009.
