Hauling permit forms for 2012

The permits apply to any vehicle, including tractor and/or trailer combinations that are over 5 tons. [...]]]> Once again it is time to start thinking of the seasonal weight restrictions (load postings) to take effect February 1, 2012 on most County and township roads. These postings will remain in effect until May 1st, 2012.

The permits apply to any vehicle, including tractor and/or trailer combinations that are over 5 tons. The only exceptions will be emergency vehicles and school buses. Semi’s will be permitted to bobtail to their home base of operation only (no trailers). The local law enforcement will be notified and if stopped the driver must have a permit in their possession or tickets will be issued. The county will issue these temporary permits for both the Township and the County roads.

There will be no fee for these permits. Due to reduced staff permits may take 48-72 hours to be returned. We will no longer be using the fax machine to handle these permits. A blank permit can be obtained on the county website (www.co.Iroquois.il.us) or picked up at the Highway Department.

Completed forms may be emailed to springpermits@prairieinet.net or mailed to 1747N State Route 1 Watseka, Il 60970 with a self addressed stamped envelope. A permit Number will be issued and permit will be returned to you via email or mail with a self addressed stamped envelope or picked up in person.

A copy of the permit will be kept on file at the County Highway Department and a copy needs to be carried in each vehicle. Information of the days hauling will be permitted, will be posted on the county website (www.co.Iroquois.il.us) or you may call (815)432-4900 for a voice recording of the hauling dates.

The allowed hauling will be decided weekly by Monday at 6:00 am. We will start accepting permit application in January 2012. Please understand that due to the staff reductions it could take up to 5 working days for your permit to be issued so please plan ahead.

The county will also notify the local and state police as to the days hauling will be permitted. If you choose to ignore this permit process you can and will be ticketed if caught. This process is in place to save the integrity of our roads, not to inconvenience people. Please help us to maintain a stable road system in the tough economic times.
