The Ford-Iroquois Public Health Department completed 165 routine food establishment inspections during the first quarter of 2012. According to Terry Eimen, Director of Environmental Health for the agency, twenty-three establishments had no deficiencies in any of the forty-five categories of possible violation. Eimen indicated that the health department publishes the names of all food establishments who achieve this status on a quarterly basis. “We always hope that all food establishments will strive to meet these standards. We congratulate those who have taken the necessary steps to accomplish this level of excellence.”
Eimen indicated that the Ford-Iroquois Public Health Department has issued permits to 301 food establishments. All establishments are inspected at various intervals during the year based upon several variable factors. Eimen stated that factors include the number of food certified managers on duty at the establishment and the extent of food handling procedures needed to conduct business at the establishment. “Our intention is to closely monitor the areas of violation and ensure that safe food handling procedures and sound sanitation practices are exercised in all food establishments in Ford and Iroquois counties.”
