Ford-Iroquois Counties – Car seat technicians, Jeanne Brown and Vicki Connolly will take appointments the week of July 19th-July 23rd to inspect your child’s car seat and make sure it is properly positioned in your automobile. “We always are available to provide this service,” said Brown. “However, this week, we are specifically highlighting this service in support of the Be a Buckle Buddy Program.”
Brown said the Be a Buckle Buddy Program is a public education program aimed at keeping kids safe in cars. “Anyone in Illinois can call 1-888-800-2642 or log on to www.bucklebuddy.org to anonymously report unbuckled kids,” she said. “Owners of reported vehicles get a packet of information about car seat safety and the Illinois law if they are reported.”
According to Connolly, nationally 4 out of 5 car seats are used incorrectly. “Parents want to do the right thing for their children, but sometimes they are confused on how to properly place the seat in the vehicle, what size of car seat their child should use or when a car seat should be destroyed,” said Connolly. “As trained technicians, we can assist parents with these issues.”
To make an appointment to have your child’s car safety seat checked, contact Vicki in the Paxton Office at 217-379-9281 or Jeanne in the Watseka Office at 815-432-2483.
