Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 5:36 PM EDT on June 04, 2010
…Flash Flood Watch in effect from Saturday morning through late Saturday night…
The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a
* Flash Flood Watch for portions of Illinois and Indiana…
including the following areas…in Illinois…Ford…Grundy…
Iroquois…Kankakee…Kendall…La Salle…Lee…Livingston
and will. In Indiana…Benton…Jasper…Lake in…Newton and
Porter.
* From Saturday morning through late Saturday night.
* Low pressure tracking along a stalled boundary within a deep
tropical airmass will provide the trigger for periods of
thunderstorms arriving Saturday morning and exiting Saturday night.
* Soil conditions are already nearly saturated from heavy rainfall
over the past week. Additional heavy rainfall will cause run off
to be rapid into low lying areas…including streams and rivers.
Precautionary/preparedness actions…
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.
