CONGRATULATIONS TO FORD-IROQUOIS PUBLIC HEALTH STAFF

> The Ford-Iroquois Public Health Department’s response to the 2008 floods has earned the agency state recognition. The department received special recognition at the Illinois Disaster Assistance Program Statewide Conference held on March 12, 2010 in Springfield. According to Amy Dickenson-Ferguson, Statewide Emergency Preparedness & Response Coordinator, the agency was presented the award in recognition of their dedicated service to Illinois’ residents affected by the 2008 floods.

Dickenson-Ferguson said that nine counties participating in the Illinois Disaster Assistance Program Social Services Block grant received awards based upon the use of best practices, exemplary service to residents and utilization of grant funding.

The Ford-Iroquois Public Health Department received an allocation of $2,299,193.26 for Iroquois County. Approximately 30 agencies and over 300 families have been assisted through the grant to date. The funds received through this grant have been critical is helping agencies and families rebound from the flood of 2008. Even two years following the flood, some families are still displaced due to their homes and contents being destroyed in the flood.
