The Illinois Public Health Institute is spearheading an effort to further the education of legislators and communities regarding the crisis of obesity. There has been established an Obesity Leadership Council of which I am a member and we have met once this past month and will meet several times throughout 2010. The kick off events for the initiative are 3 legislative hearings. IPHI has also crafted fact sheets, sample newsletter or web messages, and a flyer on the hearings. I know there are many documents attached but they will assit you in reaching out to your community partners as well as preparing you to speak at one of the hearings should you choose to do so.
