An important milestone for Iroquois County’s new Property Tax System was met last week when the first tax distribution by the Treasurer’s office was completed.
A little bit of history,,,,
On January 1, 2009 Iroquois County entered into a mult-year agreement to replace its aging Property Tax system with a more comprehensive, state of the art Property Tax Management solution from Devnet INC.
Beginning in January the Devnet team put together an aggressive implementation plan targeting May 22nd to send out the tax bills. As soon as the contract was signed, work began on updating the network infrastructure, upgrading and migrating file servers and personal computers, and transferring existing data files.
To everyone’s credit the 5/22/2009 target date was beat and a postal rate increase of over $500 was also averted.
Sending out the Tax bills as early as possible in May has a couple of important benefits to the citizens that pay and for those dependent on the funds to support their activities and services. One benefit is that the installment dues dates will have more separation. The second benefit is that tax collection starts sooner and Taxing Districts can begin to receive their distributions sooner.
I am extremely grateful for those members of the team; that with their efforts made all this a reality. The group from Devnet, (Steve, Joedy, Linda, Lee, Brandon, Tristan, Rachel, others behind the scene) are some of the most dedicated professionals I have worked with in my 30-year career.
Cordin from Integrity Networking Solutions was instrumental in upgrading our file server, migrating our existing applications, and modifying our network to support the new systems. Integration and migration was completed without interruption to vital services.
I should also mention those individuals from Assessment; (Bob, Peg, Louise, Susan, Betty, Stephanie), Clerk; ( Lisa, Deb, Sally), and Treasurer; (Mindy, Yvonne, Val, Donna) offices that not only supported the project but also when it came their time to participate did so with enthusiasm and full cooperation.
