Enforcement

I am writing this notice to thank the individuals that have been cooperating and trying to operate within the spring posting rules. Unfortunately we have had several companies and individuals thumb their noses at our request for cooperation. It has gotten bad enough that at least one township road has already been ruined during last weeks thaw. That is a minimum of a $15000 repair for one mile of road. It has become such a problem that we have had to call not only the County Sheriff but also the State Police in to curb some of the violations. These officers do not care if you are “trying” to follow the rules. If these notorious violators do not begin complying with the rules we will be forced to allow no “exceptions”. While it is not my intent to hurt individuals or businesses my job is to protect the Iroquois County road system. We have had a devastating freeze/thaw cycle already and things are only going to get worse.
