Family Life: Does your family have a disaster plan?

It’s tornado season here in the Midwest, and no matter the age, we need to discuss with our families what we should do in the case of an emergency or natural disaster.

Business and government also needs to plan and implement emergency operations.

Preparation is key for any emergency. Evaluation your own situation for response to tornadoes, ice storms, floods, etc and know what your reaction plan is all about.

Your Emergency Management Agency office is always ready to assist in organizing your response plans. See MORE at www.iqesda.com

Iroquois Flood Threat Subsides, River Levels Dropping

Monday Morning Update: 4/22/13

As the new work week gets underway, the threat of flood waters in Iroquois County have weakened. The Iroquois River and Sugar Creek have crested. River levels have been dropping.

Minor flooding at Chebanse and Iroquois continue, but any threat of severe flooding appears to be over, barring no additional heavy rainfall.

The City of Watseka has barricades in place at usual flood sites, but water levels have been receding. Watseka Public Works Department has barricades in place at N. 4th Street (near the Nettie Davis School), N. 5th and Elm, 6th and Ash. Radio Station Road (1973 E 1950 N) was under water, closed by Middleport Township.

” AS ALWAYS, SHOULD YOU EXPERIENCE A FLOODED ROAD, TURN AROUND AND FIND AN ALTERNATE ROUTE.

Watseka Flood Advisory, Caution Advised as Water Reaches Raodways

Flood Update: 4:55 pm Sat 4/20/13

Motorists in Watseka need to use caution and be aware of flooded roadways. Barricades are in place on N. 4th Street near the Nettie Davis School and on Radio Station Road (1973E 1950N).

Although the monitoring points on the Iroquois River at Iroquois and Sugar Creek at Milford shows the water levels have crested and are dropping, water is flowing to Watseka. There’s no immediate danger to serious flooding of homes or businesses, but roadways will be impacted.
